Another Bicycle Garage Indy Contest

Here is a contrest entry that won me $100.00. That was almost enough to pay for my new BROOKS saddle.

In 1984 I decided to build the best bike I could. I ordered a custom frame built of Columbus tubing. I searched high and low for Campagnolo equipment. I used Record derailleurs, crank, seat post and brakes as most would. Then I had wheels made up with Campy hubs. To top this off I scrounged to find Campy seat post bolt, handlebar plugs, toe clips, and head for the Silca pump. Then I finished it with Cinelli stem and bars.
The following summer my daughter and I made it to the White River Games in Indy. I road it in the road race but didn’t qualify for the Time trials at the Major Taylor Velodrome. My daughter did make it to the time trials and as I watched her warming up on her heavy old Nishiki bike and saw what she was against. I got an idea. I went out got “MY” new bike and lowered the saddle. The rest is history. She came if first place for her age group. I may not have won on “MY” new bike but seeing her win was even better.

Steve: Thanks from everyone at Bicycle Garage Indy for sharing Your Bicycle picture and Story. It is neat to see a picture from the then "new" Major Taylor Velodrome.
